Rights Respecting School
RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL (RRS)
What does RRS mean?
Unicef is the world’s leading organisation working for children and young people and their rights. In 1989, governments across the world agreed that all children have the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow and participate and fulfil their potential.
There are 5 main areas covered:
1. All children have the right to an education.
2. All children have the right to be healthy.
3. All children have the right to a childhood.
4.All children have the right to be treated fairly.
5. All children have the right to be heard.

How do we do it at Priestmead?
Priestmead Primary School aims to be a school where children’s rights are at the heart of our core values and ethos, to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential.
Through the hard work and commitment of our staff and pupils we have achieved the Bronze - Rights Committed and the Silver Award- Rights Aware. We are now working towards the Gold Award- Rights Respecting!
